Stuart D. Appel RLA, PP, ASLA
Principal
Stu joined the firm in 1982 and is now its president and managing principal. His strengths, split almost equally between planning, design and project administration, are applicable across a wide range of project types.
A registered planner and landscape architect, Stu has an MBA from LaSalle University and bachelor degrees in landscape architecture and environmental science from the State University of New York in Syracuse.
A veteran of numerous speaking engagements, Stu is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects; the Central Philadelphia Development Corporation; PlanSmart NJ; New Jersey APPA; the Society for College and University Planning; and is president of the board of directors for the Perelman Jewish Day School.
Stu is an adjunct professor of planning and design at Temple University’s School of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture, and the recipient of numerous professional design awards.
He’s currently busy working on a variety of projects for Longwood Gardens; Rutgers University; Reading Hospital and Medical Center; Susquehanna Health System; and the design of the Philadelphia Holocaust Memorial Garden.
