Nature helps to heal the heart and soul, and The Reading Hospital Regional Cancer Center’s Healing Garden, a project of the Friends of The Reading Hospital, provides a secluded outdoor haven for patients, visitors and staff.
The sights, sounds, and smells of a garden have always provided people with a respite from their troubles and a feeling of serenity, particularly during times of stress. The Healing Garden was born of a desire to provide a quiet place amid flora and fauna for patients, their families and friends.
Feature areas include a stone fountain with reflecting pool, landscaped walkways, grassy amphitheater, colorful mosaic, sculptures, and seating. With hundreds of living plants, color, and the soothing sounds of cascading water, the garden is a place to escape, if only for a short time, from illness and the bustling, sterile hospital environment.
