Wells Appel is preparing the master plan for Hunting Park in north Philadelphia. Dating back to 1854, the comprehensive plan for this historic 80 –Acre Park will provide a framework for improvements and a strategy to implement them over time. Implementing an aggressive community engagement process, Wells Appel is bringing together stakeholders, park officials and the philanthropic community to transform Hunting Park into a significant resource for the health and welfare of the community.
Along with new-programmed facilities, key areas of revitalization will include the park lighting, the recreation center, swimming pool, amphitheater, athletic courts and fields, picnic areas, the band shell where John Philip Souza performed and the restoration of historic Logan House. The project recognizes the importance of creating a safe and well-maintained park will provide a place for healthy recreation for children and families, bring neighbors together, and serve as a catalyst for a larger neighborhood renewal.
